Welcome to WriteIt! 

We are pleased to welcome you to WriteIt, a writing community found on Dreamwidth. In this community, you will find daily prompts, weekly prompts, seasonal prompts, and a selection of prompt tables to choose from for our yearly challenge. Feel free to participate as much or as little as you want, we want this to be a community that makes writing fun, not a community that makes writing obligatory.

Description

Write It! Is a prompt challenge community focused on inspiring writers to write more through friendly, low pressure competition and engagement with other writers. 

How It Works

Members of the community are divided up into two teams and compete in three month, seasonal phases. Prompts are posted daily, weekly, monthly, and for the phase, plus an additional yearly challenge. Completion of prompts adds points to your team’s score, and the team with the highest score at the end of the phase will be crowned the winner and receive that phase’s prize!

The Rules

1. Don’t be a jerk. This is the most important rule of all for this community. We will not tolerate bigotry in any form or personal attacks. If you have a problem with another group member, please contact one of the moderators directly.

2. Have fun! This meant to be a low pressure, fun way to encourage us to write more and challenge ourselves with new types of writing and prompts. 

Posting Guidelines

1. Please use the form below for posting your stories. 

2. We do require that a rating is posted on all submissions, as Dreamwidth allows people as young as 13 to have accounts.

3. Trigger warnings must be applied when necessary. Current trigger warning topics are as follows: Rape/Sexual Assault, Incest, Pedophilia, Child Abuse, Domestic Abuse, Eating Disorders, and Self-Harm. 

4. Work posted must be newly written for the particular prompt that you are filling. If not, where’s the challenge?

Commenting Guidelines

1. Commenting on other writer’s stories is not required, but encouraged. 

2. Please be respectful when commenting, we have many different levels of writers here. 

3. While general concrit (constructive criticism) comments are fine, please do not go into deep analysis unless the person has stated in the header that they are seeking it.

Hey, this looks fun so count me in :3 I’m not seeing any mention of deadlines but I assume they’re self-explanatory -- daily prompts to be filled within the day, weekly prompts within the week, and monthly prompts within the month?

May I kindly suggest you create an AO3 collection for Write It?
This way we can easily add our works and it is easier to keep track and sort through fandoms etc. And it will be great to see the collection grow, grow, grow this year.

hello! I have a question regarding fills. Say that one of the prompts from my yearly prompt table inspired a fic I wrote for an anon fest. Could the fic from the fest count as a fill once it's revealed?

Can we fill the daily prompts more than once?

Sure, but only once counts for points unless they qualify for the length bonus.

Thank you. I love the daily prompts and the low word counts so I thought I would ask if there was a cap point wise.

I was wondering with the weekly prompts and the All Prompts Complete Bonus can we use all the prompts in fic and it counts or do they have to be 3 separate fics? I'm sorry to be the problem child so often.

are you talking about a multi-chap fic, or a one shot?

I tend to write more one shots so that's what I was thinking with an appropriate word count.

If it's a multi chap it's fine, but we prefer one shots to have their own prompts. Sorry!
