She rolled her eyes. “I cannot imagine allowing that, signing away permission for your child to enlist in the Navy the second they meet the minimum age requirements, and if you think for a second that any child of ours will be following in your footsteps, Andrew, you have another thing coming, and so would they.”
“Do you think I wanted her to say yes?” Andrew fixed his gaze out the window. The snow was falling at a heavier clip than before. “I mean, I have no issue with the career path I’ve chosen, you have to know that I wasn’t ever going to be some great academic, even if I’d stayed the course and finished my A levels, but part of me thought that she’d fight me on it.”
