Summary: It was hard not to construe the window that she had again left unlocked and slightly open as an invitation, and it did not matter that she had surely done so unconsciously or rationalised it with the need for fresh air; as usual the gap measured only a finger’s breadth, probably to keep it as inconspicuous as possible, hidden from the eyes of her watchful father, but it still seemed to purposefully beckon Krolock inside.
